No fun at all

My herbalist says that MS is spoken of, in his circles at least, as a "withering" disease.

Well, nowadays, that's definitely me.

I'm having really unenjoyable experiences just trying to use my right hand. Hold a spoon. Rinse a cup. Use a whisk to make matcha tea. Use my right hand, and start crying out not in pain, but in despair.

Sometimes I think I'm getting better at making the whisked tea. Sometimes... I just despair.

Let's not talk about typing. Poor hand control is adding at least 25+% of time merely to correct slovenly typing mistakes. I've pretty much given up using my right hand even for hunt-and-peck typing, because I can't even do that well enough.

And now, a snack, and bed. My wife wants to do something with me outside the house today, maybe, maybe, that'll happen, but frankly, I just want to go to bed and stay there.

Not a "primary" gifts-of-MS day, so far. Maybe it is, but I just don't see them right now... all I see is despair.

No fun. No fun at all...

My right hand is now nothing more than a paperweight. However, my own "gift" came when I began to train my left hand to take the dominant role. Scissors still pose a problem, but I can eat, type, print in block letters, and apply make-up, all as a southpaw. It's not easy, and it's certainly not fun, but I get satisfaction knowing I've accomplished something despite the 'withering.'

Actually, at least in your posts, you seem to minimize despair most of the time. Because it is truly a wonder that, given the swiftness and extent of your increasing disability, you're not despairing more. That you're not screaming at the top of your lungs in anger and despair.

I'm sorry about your lousy hand control! Not sure how speaking is for you right now - could Speech Recognition be helpful instead of typing? I'm sure you already know all about this! Just in case...the Microsoft Windows website says: "You can use your voice to control your computer. You can say commands that the computer will respond to, and you can dictate text to the computer." Apple must have a similiar option. Whaddya think?

PS Tried to post this, didn't confirm that it went through, so trying again. Sorry if duplicate post!
